Izložba i Revija: Rekonstrukcija i inspiriracija po antičkim temeljima
U Ljubljani je, u okviru kulturnih aktivnosti kojima se obilježavaju 2 milenija postojanja grada, na arheološkoj lokaciji očuvanih temelja Emonske hiše u četvrtak 3. 7. 2014. održana Izložba kolekcije rekonstruirane rimske odjeće i Modna revija odjevnih predmeta koji reinterpretiraju povijesni rimski uzor. Na istom mjestu gledatelji su mogli vidjeti i usporediti autentični rimski odjevni dizajn s kreativnim derivacijama, varijacijama i mladenačkim dizajnom koji naznakama implicira vezu s rimskim izvorom.

Izložba
Izložbu je činila kompozicija sedam kostima na lutkama, koji predstavljaju rekonstrukciju rimske odjeće bogatih Rimljanina, postavljena u zasebnom prostoru kod ulaza na arheološki lokalitet Emonske hiše. Autorica dizajna kostima je Vendi Jukić Buča, diplomirani arheolog, koja je pri dizajniranju koristila stručne povijesne izvore, a također znanje sa studija Dizajna odjeće i kostimografije (Oblikovanje tekstilij in oblačil – Kostumografija) na Naravoslovnotehničkoj fakulteti koju pohađa u Ljubljani. Kostime je izradila gospođa Janka Rihar.
Revija
Pedesetak mladih dizajnera, studentica i studenata NTF-a u Ljubljani, kreirali su modele širokog raspona, od onih koji, na autorski osobit način, slijede oblike bujnog rimskog ruha, do onih koji reduciraju detalje i ostvaruju kreativno čitljiv kompromis između povijesnog predloška i današnjih modnih smjernica, do onih koji, gotovo potpuno oslobođeni zadanog povijesnog okvira kreiraju forme čija veza s rimskim korijenima čini metaforu, simboličnu vezu, kreativni luk koji se ne iscrpljuje u faktografiji.
Revija je izvedena kretanjem modela u impresivnom prostoru ostataka autentične rimske građevine, uz impresionističku podlogu glazbe na harfi. Glazba je bila usklađena s lirskim ugođajem modnog događaja, ali se odabrani ulomak (zbog trajanja prezentacije i nepostojanja alternative), ponavljao gotovo do zasićenja motivom.

Koncepcija: arhitektonski kontekst i izdvojena rekonstrukcija
Koncepcija izvedbe događaja (koji se odvijao u dva navrata, u četvrtak 3.7. i petak 4.7.2014.) uključivala je prezentaciju modela u kretanju konturom i površinama autentične rimske građevine, omogućavajući pregled nove dizajnirane odjeće u jedinstvenom povijesnom kontekstu, uz usmjeravanje pažnje gledatelja na sastavnice kompozicije arhitektonskog kompleksa.
Arhitektura i dizajn
Monumentalna podloga građeve ostvarila je sinergiju s lakim, svijetlim, pokrenutim figurama modela. Hod od polazne točke kioska za presvlačenje po pravokutnom crtovlju tlocrta i ostataka konstrukcije, po mekim travnatim i zemljanim površinama do geometrijskog ornamenta mozaika dominantne prostorije, ostvario je slikovitu ambijentalnu kompoziciju, osvježavajući stereotip kretanja po modnoj pisti. Odnos arhitektonskih detalja i novodizajniranih oblika ostvaren je u punoj mjeri, za razliku od odnosa reinterpretiranih oblika s autentičnim oblicima odjeće koja se reinterpretira, a koja je stavljena po strani do disfunkcije.
Replike i rekonstrukcije
U realiziranoj koncepciji, kompozicija rekonstruirane rimske odjeće, koja u autentičnoj formi predstavlja osnovu za reinterpretaciju i osuvremenjivanje, bila je smještena u izdvojenom prostoru, izvan arhitektonskog kadra u kojem se odvija revija, čime je izostavljena iz tog procesa uključivanja i uspoređivanja. Da su replike rimske odjeće bili smještene unutar Emonske hiše, unutar razvedene strukture tlocrtne površine koja rasporedom i varijacijama veličina prostorija daje mogućnosti za smještaj tog sadržaja, bez prenaglašavanja ili interferencije s dinamikom modne revije (neke od prostorija simbolično su malih dimenzija), bila bi u kontinuitetu na raspolaganju za usporedbu s rasponom novih kreacija koje se razavijaju iz tog ishodišta.
Koncepcija i Ciljevi Projekta
Cilj projekta bio je (prema Katalogu) prikazati mogućnost reinterpretacije rimske povijesne odjeće te likovnih i arhitektonskih detalja Emone u suvremenoj modi. U tom smislu projekt izložbe i modne revije predstavlja simultani prikaz stvaralaštva i prezentacija oba polazišta, i arhitektonskog i rekonstrukcija odjeće, koja je, uostalom, izravno vezana za modne dizajn, bila bi očekivana. U ovom izboru koncepcije, gledatelji su ostali prikraćeni za tu mogućnost. Iz ove prezentacije, bio je isključen još jedan element, a to je uvodna riječ organizatora kojom bi se kratko predstavio Projekt i autori. Podaci su raspoloživi u katalogu koji je tiskan za prigodu i podijeljen posjetiteljima, ali činjenica je da rijetki posjetitelji čitaju cijeli tekst kataloga, osobito ne na samom otvorenju, kad su zaokupljeni živim događajima.

Događaj u cjelini
Opći dojam je iznimno dojmljiv. Ostvarena je specifična atmosfera dodira antičkih i suvremenih kreativnih vrijednosti. Upriličena je prezentacija mladih autora u antičkom arhitektonskom okružju, u Gradu koji impresionira svojim vremenskim, društvenim i umjetničkim kontinuitetom (vidi osvrt: Emona iz Putopisa o Ljubljani, http://www.arheologija.hr/?p=5156 )

POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP 2014-2016 AT THE WIENER LABORATORY
AMERICAN SCHOOL OF CLASSICAL STUDIES AT ATHENS
Purpose: To conduct research in the Wiener Laboratory on a defined project or projects that furthers the fields of specialties of the laboratory, utilizes the collections and library of the laboratory, enhances the scientific stature of the laboratory, and contributes to the teaching mission of the American School.
Term: Early September 2014 to June 1, 2016, with the possibility of renewal for third year. It is expected that the applicant will maintain a physical presence at the Wiener Laboratory during the academic year.
Compensation: Stipend of $35,000 for 12 months. Waiver of School fees. Lunches in Loring Hall. Reimbursement of research expenses up to $2,500, with prior approval. One round-trip economy airfare from the U.S. or Europe to Greece annually.
Qualifications: Recent postdoctoral scholars (up to 10 years from degree, 5 years for applicants in tenure track positions) in fields relevant to the research interests of the Wiener Laboratory of the American School, including: physical anthropology, zooarchaeology, geoarchaeology, and environmental sciences.
Application:
1. Cover letter naming the applicant, current research interests, and title and brief description of the proposed research project.
2. Statement (up to 1,500 words) of the proposed research project to be completed during the term of the fellowship, including research goals, explicit methodology to be used and relevant bibliography, materials and collections to be studied, timetable and publication schedule, equipment/resources needed while at the Wiener Laboratory, and the reasons the project should occur in Athens at the Wiener Laboratory.
3. Copies of permit(s) from relevant authorities and letters of permission from excavation or project directors to study proposed materials.
4. Description of the candidate’s proposed contributions to the Wiener Laboratory and the academic program (1-2 pages). Candidates who can enrich the teaching mission of the School, by contributing to seminars, fieldtrips or in other ways, are particularly welcome.
5. A brief proposal for a research workshop or small conference that will serve to integrate the interests of the many constituencies of ASCSA and also draw others from outside ASCSA to the School. During the first year of term, the successful candidate will be required to submit a detailed plan for organizing such a workshop or conference; if the proposal is approved the successful candidate will organize the event in a third year and be awarded an extension of the fellowship.

2 Doctoral Scholarships in “Archaeological Information Systems” and “Digital Cultural heritage”
The Junior Research Group “Digital Humanities/Digital Cultural heritage” of the Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe in a Global Context,” in cooperation with the “Heidelberg Graduate School for Mathematical and Computational Methods in the Sciences”, offers two doctoral scholarships with focus on “Archaeological Information Systems” and “Digital Cultural heritage”. Within the framework of the research group we will look at discourses linked to changes of new possibilities in the use of digital methods in archaeology. Opportunities and risks associated with big research data sets will be ascertained. This results in standardized workflows that serve further investigations. We work on a team with GIS and laser scan data (2D and 3D modelling) in cooperation with a research network of various institutions within a digital research infrastructure. And we also develop VREs (Virtual Research Environments) for specific digitalization workflows of sub‐projects in archaeology.
The successful applicants’ primary task will be to complete a PhD degree, but active participation in relevant graduate courses offered at the Cluster of Excellence or other institutes at Heidelberg University is recommended. The stipends are rated at € 1200 to 1468/month. Access to travel and publication funding is available.
Candidates must hold an M.A. or equivalent in a relevant discipline of Pre‐ and Early History (“Ur‐ und Frühgeschichte”), Landscape Archaeology and Geomatics or Archaeological Information Systems (“Archäoinformatik”) etc. and experience in archaeological fieldwork methods in Europe and/or Asian contexts. Proficiency in English is mandatory. German and French language skills are desirable. An interest in interdisciplinary collaboration is essential.

U organizaciji Oddelka za arheologijo FFUL i Inštituta za arheologijo ZRC SAZU, u srijedu 25. rujna 2013. godine u 18 sati, u predavaonici Geografskega inštituta ZRC SAZU (Gosposka 16, Ljubljana) održat će se predavanje dr. Hermanna Genza ‘Hattusha: The Capital of the Hittite Empire’.
Predavanje će biti održano na engleskom jeziku.
Dr. Hermann Genz je izvanredni profesor na američkom sveučilištu u Bejrutu. Svoje istraživanje je posvetio brončanom i željeznom dobu Levanta i središnje Anatolije, nastanku kompleksnih društava te razlogu propasti hetitskog kraljevstva. Studirao je na sveučilištu u Tübingenu. Njegova istraživanja željeznog doba u središnjoj Anatoliji i obradi željeznodobne keramike iz iskopavanja Hatuše – Boğazköya su omogućila njemačka znanstvena fundacija i ispostava Njemačkog arheološkog insituta u Carigradu. Sudjelovao je na brojnim iskopavanjima u Jordanu, Turskoj i Libanonu te vodio terenska istraživanja u Tell Fadous – Kfarabida u Libanonu. Autor je brojnih rasprava te priprema preglednu studiju Libanona od prapovijesti do helenizma.

Project and objectives
The ERC Starting Grant project “Palaeoanthropology at the Gates of Europe (PaGE): Human Evolution in the Southern Balkans”, directed by Prof. K. Harvati (http://www.geo.uni-tuebingen.de/arbeitsgruppen/ur-und-fruehgeschichte-und-archaeologie-des-mittelalters/forschungsbereich/palaeoanthropologie/arbeitsgruppe/forschung/page.html), is a five year interdisciplinary research program that involves intensive paleoanthropological fieldwork in Greece. The research aims to systematically explore known palaeoanthropological localities, to identify new ones and to increase the number of hominin and Paleolithic findings. The ultimate goal of the project is to potentially identify human population movements into Eurasia; to explore the adaptations and possibly late survival of Neanderthals in the region; and to document population interactions at the cultural and/or biological level.
The PhD candidate will be based in Tübingen University and will analyze the paleontological faunal material recovered from one or more of the PaGE study areas.

- MA/MSc degree and equivalent research experience in the fields of Paleontology or Zooarchaeology, preferably with faunal material from Greece.
- Experience with paleontological fieldwork, preferably in Greek sites.

As a member of the PaGE team, the candidate will participate in the survey and excavation campaigns and undertake various tasks related to fieldwork. Moreover, the candidate will assist in post-fieldwork, laboratory analyses, data management and publications.
Applicant requirements
- MA/MSc degree and/or equivalent research experience in the fields of Prehistoric Archaeology, Palaeolithic Archaeology, Palaeoanthropology, Geoarchaeology or Archaeological Computing. Applicants with an academic background in Earth Sciences, particularly in Quaternary Geology or Physical Geography, will also be considered, provided that they are experienced in GIS software and familiar with (Palaeolithic) archaeology.
- Experience with geospatial technologies; GIS-based models; agent-based models; spatial analysis; site location modeling; predictive modeling.
- Experience with Paleolithic fieldwork.
- Applicants are required to have a very good command of spoken and written English; knowledge of German and/or Greek will be an advantage.
