Mednarodna konferenca “Turizem na stičišču arheologije in industrije”
Mestna občina Novo mesto in mednarodni center za raziskave antičnih poti C.I.V.I.A iz San Marina v okviru 2. mednarodne konference mest ob jantarni poti vabita na dogodek “Turizem na stičišču arheologije in industrije“.
Dogodek je namenjen:
- predstavnikom občin, ki delujete na področju turizma, kulture in gospodarstva;
- predstavnikom muzejev, lokalnih in regionalnih turističnih organizacij, turistično informacijskih centrov in turističnih društev;
- delavcem v turizmu, študentom turizma in predavateljem s področja turizma;
- strokovnjakom s področja zgodovine, arheologije in kulturne dediščine;
- podjetjem, ki vas zanima razvoj industrijskega turizma;
- vsem, ki bi radi izvedeli, kako uspešno povezovati kulturno dediščino, turizem in gospodarstvo.
Kdaj: petek, 21. april 2017, 9.00 – 14.00, voden ogled Novega mesta od 14.00 do 17.00
Kje: Konferenčna dvorana Visokošolskega središča Novo mesto (Na Loko 2, Novo mesto).

Na konferenci bo zagotovljeno tolmačenje slovenščina-angleščina-slovenščina.
2. mednarodna konferenca mest ob jantarni poti je poleg strokovnega izpopolnjevanja in izmenjave dobrih praks namenjena turističnemu povezovanju mest med Baltikom in Jadranom s poudarkom na kulturnem in industrijskem turizmu. Konferenca se bo osredotočala na povezovanje treh področij: kulturne dediščine, industrije in turizma.Cilj konference je:
- spoznati, kako najbolje izkoristiti priložnosti, ki jih za razvoj turizma predstavlja kulturna dediščina,
- kako kulturno dediščino uspešno povezati z obrtjo in
- kako uspešno razvijati industrijski turizem.
Kot osrednji govorniki na konferenci bodo sodelovali predstavniki mest iz tujine in Slovenije, ki bodo predstavili primere dobrih praks povezovanja obravnavanih področij.
Konferenco bodo spremljale tri posebne razstave Dolenjskega muzeja in različne turistične aktivnosti, v jantarno rdečo barvo pa bodo v okviru jantarnega leta 2017 zaviti tudi številni ostali dogodki v Novem mestu.

It is our pleasure to invite you to the 4th scientific conference Methodology and Archaeometry which will take place on 1st and 2nd of December 2016 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb.
The scientific conference Methodology and Archaeometry is being organised by the Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb since 2013. The goal of the conference is to entice interdisciplinarity, critical thinking, new insights and approaches as well as new theoretical frameworks in contemporary archaeological science. Coverage of a wide spectrum of themes and scientific disciplines has resulted in papers and discussions that promote scientific issues in the fields of methodology, documentation and interpretation of archaeological data.
The interdisciplinary character of the conference brings together archaeologists and researchers from other scientific disciplines with whom archaeologists collaborate closely; and who – through their work, projects and ideas – promote new insights about interpretation of the human life in the past.
Section Methodology
The main questions this session is aimed to address are:
1. How to gather and extract maximum data from the archaeological investigation?
2. Which documentation technique is most efficient in interpretation and reconstrucion of the past?
3. Non-destructive method
4. Methodology of field surveying
5. Database in archaeology
Section Archaeometry
The main questions of this session are:
1. Problems in the interpretation of the results of archaeometric analysis
2. What kind of methodology is necessary in archaeometric studies?
3. Case studies of different archaeological material analysis

EXPLORING THE NEIGHBORHOOD: THE ROLE OF CERAMICS IN UNDERSTANDING PLACE IN THE HELLENISTIC WORLD
KAŠTELA-CROATIA, 1st -4th of JUNE 2017
(organized by the Museum of Town Kaštela, Institute of Archaeology in Zagreb and Croatian Science Foundation- RED project).
One key feature of the Hellenistic world is its cosmopolitan nature that was created by decades of interaction between peoples from different regions with distinctive cultural backgrounds. In this era of ever-increasing connectivity, at both regional and inter-regional levels, material culture can reflect the movement of people who took with them their own identities and attitudes. In many cases, these features were either retained or melded with local traditions into unique regional forms within the Hellenistic koine. Since ceramic shapes may be related to particular cultural activities and wares may be connected to certain regions, research on ceramic types and their distributions over a wide geographical area can reveal the behavior and movement of those who created and/or consumed them. We invite papers that focus on pottery studies and offer illuminating perspectives on these complex phenomena throughout the Hellenistic Mediterranean and beyond. As archaeometric methods are invaluable tools in the quest to reconstruct the dynamic past, we especially encourage the submission of papers that incorporate scientific techniques.
In general, we would like participants to explore some of the following questions:
• how may we relate the personal mobility to broader changes in society and culture?
• what was the impact of the newly globalised economy on the processes of integration and acculturation in different communities?
• how can archaeometric analyses help us evaluate population movements, daily behaviours and activities, and changing customs?
If you wish to present a short paper or a poster at the conference, please send a completed registration form and a short abstract (max. 1 DIN A4-page) in English, French, German or Italian to the organisers of the conference by August 31, 2016, to: conf3@iarpothp.org

Römische Siedlungen an der Drau | Waren‐ und Ideentransfer entlang der Flußroute

Beschreibung und Thematik
Im Rahmen des zweiten Aguntum – Workshops rückt die Lage des Municipium Claudium Aguntum an den Oberläufen der Drau in den Fokus. Es soll der Frage nachgegangen werden, inwieweit die materielle Kultur der an der Flussroute liegenden Siedlungen von Aguntum bis Mursa Ähnlichkeiten aufweist. Dies betrifft zum einen Kleinfundmaterial wie Transportbehälter (Amphoren, Fässer …) und andere direkte Hinweise auf einen Transport von Gütern wie Schiffsfunde und entsprechende Anlegestellen an den Flussufern. Zum anderen stellt sich die Frage, wie stark die durch den Fluss verbundenen Siedlungen in Kontakt zueinander standen und ob es dabei auch zu einem Ideenaustausch kam, der sich etwa in Handwerk‐ und Architekturstilen materialisieren kann.
Ziel des Workshops ist eine Zusammenschau von Befunden entlang der Drau und ihrer Nebenflüsse vom Beginn der römischen Einflussnahme bis zu deren Ende. Dabei soll die Loslösung von Raumordnungskonzepten wie modernen Landesgrenzen, römischen Provinzgrenzen und Ähnlichem neue Forschungsimpulse wecken und künftige Kooperationen anregen.
Discription and conference themes
The second Aguntum‐workshop is going to focus on the location of the Municipium Claudium Aguntum on the upper reaches of the Drava River. It shall be investigated to what extent the material culture of the settlements along the river route from Aguntum to Mursa shows similarities. This concerns small finds like transport containers (amphorae, barrels …) and other clear indicators for the transport of commodities like ships or landing stations on the river banks. On the other hand it also shall be questioned to what extent the settlements along the Drava have been in contact with each other and if they exchanged not only trading goods but also ideas. This latter exchange could be reflected in artisanal and architectural style.
The aim of the workshop is to create an overview of archaeological records along the Drava and its tributaries from the dawn of Roman influence up to its end. The detachment of spatial concepts, like modern frontiers, Roman provincial borders, and the like, shall open new fields of research and stimulate future cooperations between the countries along the Drava.

The 6th biannual European-Mediterranean (EUROMED) conference brings together researchers, policy makers, professionals, fellows and practitioners to explore some of the more pressing issues concerning Cultural Heritage today. In particular, the main goal of the conference is to focus on interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research on tangible and intangible Cultural Heritage, using cutting edge technologies for the protection, restoration, preservation, massive digitalization, documentation and presentation of the Cultural Heritage contents. At the same time, the event is intended to cover topics of research ready for exploitation, demonstrating the acceptability of new sustainable approaches and new technologies by the user community, owners, managers and conservators of our cultural patrimony.
Topics and themes:
Researchers and practitioners willing to participate to the EUROMED 2016 conference are invited to submit papers on original works addressing the following subjects and research themes:

Submission of Papers:
Submissions for the event are completely electronic through the on-line submission website available at http://www.euromed2016.eu/index.php/paper-submission
The conference accepts only original, unpublished work written in English which will be blind-reviewed and published on SPRINGER-NATURE LNCS.
We are soliciting three types of contributions:
- Full research papers: they present new innovative research developments and results. They will feature a full-length oral presentation and will be published in a high-quality proceedings volume. Each submitted paper must not exceed 12 pages in total.
- Project papers:they focus on the description of project organization, use of technology and lessons learned. They will feature a short oral presentation and will be published in a high-quality proceedings volume. Each submitted paper must not exceed 10 pages in total.
- Short papers:they present preliminary ideas and works-in-progress. These papers will have a short oral presentation and will be also available also as posters in conference breaks. Each short paper must not exceed 8 pages in total.
The 20 best submitted papers will be published on a special issue of the International Journal Heritage in the Digital Era published by the SAGE the 5th largest journal publisher in the world.
