U sklopu niza popularizacijskih predavanja o raznim pojavama i elementima hrvatske arheološke baštine u Muzeju hrvatskih arheoloških spomenika u Splitu i popularizacije u sklopu projekta “Život na rimskoj cesti” (HRZZ, UIP-05-2017-9768) Pia Šmalcelj Novaković održat će 25. 9. predavanje o Avarima, njihovoj pojavi, baštini i nestanku, kao i ulozi koju su odigrali u stvaranju ranosrednjovjekovne Europe.

As part of a series of popularization lectures on the various phenomena and elements of the Croatian archaeological heritage at the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments in Split and popularization within the project “Life on the Roman Road” (HRZZ, UIP-05-2017-9768),  on the 25th of September Pia Šmalcelj Novaković will hold the lecture on Avars, their appearance, heritage and disappearance as well as their part in formulation of Early Medieval Europe.

U sklopu dugogodišnjeg truda Instituta za arheologiju na polju predstavljanja rezultata arheoloških istraživanja javnosti, kao i edukacije prije svega mladih naraštaja o važnosti i prednostima očuvanja kulturne baštine, nedavno je pokrenuta stranica www.iarh.hr/popular na kojoj će biti najavljivani svi popularizacijski događaji, ali i gdje će zainteresirani posjetitelji moći provjeriti kako se odvijaju i izgledaju različite radionice, predstave i događanja koja IARH kontinuirano provodi godinama.
As part of the Institute’s of Archaeology long-term efforts to present the results of archaeological research to the public, as well as the education of the young generations on the importance and advantages of preserving the cultural heritage, www.iarh.hr/popular site  has recently been launched. There, interested visitors will find annoucements of all future popularization events, but also descriptions, reports and photos of different workshops, performances and events that IARH has been running for years.

Stari grad Vrbovec u Klenovcu Humskome

U razdoblju od 17. rujna do 8. listopada 2018. godine Institut za arheologiju će nastaviti arheološko-konzervatorske radove na srednjovjekovnome burgu Vrbovcu u Klenovcu Humskome (voditeljica: Tatjana Tkalčec). Arheološka istraživanja provodit će se u prvome dijelu trajanja terena, a potom konzervacija i konsolidacija otkrivene arhitekture. Arheološko-konzervatorska istraživanja burga odvijaju se intenzivno još od 2001. godine, a prethodile su im i dvije kampanje probnih istraživanja. Lokalitet je datiran od kraja 12. do sredine 16. stoljeća. Dugogodišnji projekt je do sad rezultirao izuzetnim znanstvenim spoznajama, a cilj je zaštititi otkrivenu arhitekturu i adekvatno je predstaviti široj javnosti.
In the period from 17th September till 8th October 2018 the Institute of Archaeology is going to continue with the archaeological excavations and conservation work at the site of medieval castle of Vrbovec in Klenovec Humski (leadership: Tatjana Tkalčec). Archaeological research is going to be conducted in the first half of the fieldwork and conservation and consolidation of the newly discovered architecture afterwards. Archaeological-conservation research investigation of the castle started intensively since 2001, and was preceded by two campaigns of trial research. The site is dated from the late 12th to mid-16th century. This long-time project has so far resulted in exceptional scientific knowledge, and the goal is to protect the exposed architecture and to adequately present it to the general public.

Tijekom rujna i prve polovine listopada 2018. godine Institut za arheologiju (Juraj Belaj) nastavit će arheološki istraživati brod crkve sv. Martina na Martin-Bregu iznad Dugog Sela. Riječ je o ruševnoj crkvi čije je svetište i okolica arheološki istraživana od 2002. do 2008. godine, dok je lani započeto istraživanje broda. Utvrđeno je kako se radi o izuzetno slojevitoj građevini, čija je danas vidljiva jezgra nastala tijekom druge polovice XV. stoljeća u kasnogotičkome stilu, no otkriveni su tragovi i ranogotičke (iz vremena vitezova ivanovaca) i romaničke faze (iz vremena kad su njome upravljali templari) te naznake ranijeg slavenskog groblja. U crkvenome brodu za sada nailazimo tek na novovjekovne grobove.

During September and first half of October 2018, the Institute of Archaeology (Juraj Belaj) will continue archaeological research of  the nave of St. Martin’s church in Martin-Breg above Dugo Selo. The site comprises a church in ruins, whose sanctuary and environs have been investigated from 2002 to 2008, while research of the nave started last year. It has been established that the building is stratified, with the now visible phase in late Gothic style belonging to the mid-15th century, while previous phases belong to early Gothic (from the time of the knights of the Order of Saint John) and Romanesque (the time when the knights Templars managed it) phases, with traces of an earlier Slavic graveyard. So far only graves of the Modern period have been found in the church’s nave.
